Dak Prescott Contract Talks With Cowboys 'All Dead for Now'
By Ryan Flores

The NFL season officially begins on Sunday afternoon for the Dallas Cowboys, as they get set to take on the New York Giants at home.
It's a very exciting time to be a Cowboys fan, as the team has been able to extend La'el Collins, Jaylon Smith, and Ezekiel Elliott to long-term deals. However, it's worth noting that quarterback Dak Prescott remains without a contract extension heading into the regular season.
Negotiations between Cowboys & Dak Prescott continue this morning but it remains unclear if 2 sides will be able to reach an agreement before team kicks off against NY Giants, source said. Carson Wentz & Jared Goff, 2 other QB’s from Prescott’s draft class, have new deals.

Both Prescott and the Cowboys are hopeful to get a deal done by Sunday, but it seems as though that will not happen. An hour after that report from David Moore, Ed Werder reported contract talks had ended. Luckily, Prescott isn't rushing the Cowboys, or threatening to hold out, as he clearly wants to make sure he gets a fair deal.

One would think that a quarterback that is still on his rookie deal worth just $2.12 million in the final year would be in a hurry to secure a huge pay day. However, between his endorsement deals and insurance policies, Prescott makes a whopping $50 million outside of the NFL. He absolutely has the luxury of playing the waiting game with the Jones family.
Ezekiel Elliott may have signed, but the Cowboys still run through Dak Prescott.

Prescott is coming off his best season since his rookie year, throwing for 3,885 yards with 22 touchdowns and just eight interceptions. With star receiver Amari Cooper in the fold for a full year, there's a chance that Prescott could eclipse those numbers, especially with a potentially massive payday on the line. When that payday comes is the only question.
