The protests sweeping the nation in response to the death of George Floyd have affected people from all walks of life in different ways. What most rational people can agree on is that disproportionate police brutality toward African-Americans has to stop someday for this country to feel at all whole.

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has had a rough personal journey this offseason, but that didn't stop him from speaking out and making a serious statement on Wednesday. He lost his brother in April, and that alone would be enough reason for him to stay off social media.

However, Prescott instead made a powerful post on Instagram in which he pledged $1 million to improve police training and help fight systematic racism in America.

This is no boilerplate statement.

The entire four-page post is a strong statement from Prescott. He addresses law enforcement directly and makes it clear how they have to make internal changes before gaining back the trust of Americans, specifically those of color. Prescott also notes how police officers must hold each other accountable to avoid situations like what happened in Minneapolis with George Floyd.

Some individuals have good intentions and post things on social media, but don't quite follow through. Prescott pledging $1 million shows that he is committed to tackling some of the biggest problems in this country. This move is bigger than football, and Prescott should be applauded for what he is doing.
