We all know Dak Prescott is going to be the Dallas Cowboys starting quarterback in 2020, so what's the hold up on a new deal?

Despite the fact that the Cowboys were on a bye, the team made no progress in their ongoing extension talks with the former fourth-round pick. The Cowboys might even be willing to resort to the dreaded franchise tag to keep Prescott in Dallas for a relatively paltry sum.

FYI Cowboys, go ask Kirk Cousins and Le'Veon Bell just what happens when a team decides to franchise tag you every year.

Prescott has more than earned a new deal. While he is turning the ball over more this year, he is on pace for new career-bests in completion percentage, passing yards, and touchdowns under new offensive coordinator Kellen Moore.

With every touchdown pass and every fourth quarter comeback, Prescott's price tag continues to go up and up. For a guy in Jerry Jones who specializes in getting deals done, he's been stuck in neutral with regards to locking up Prescott.
