Dak Prescott Weighs in on Ezekiel Elliott's Holdout With Cowboys
By Aaron Halford
Amidst star running back Ezekiel Elliott's holdout over contract negotiations with the Dallas Cowboys, it's as though the entire state of Texas is eagerly awaiting his return.
That includes quarterback Dak Prescott, who offered insight into the situation during an interview at training camp. Prescott said he has talked to Elliott and knows he's still training and has the right mindset, but understands that Elliott's reasons for holding out are purely business.
Then again, Dak doesn't have a new contract yet and he's not holding out, so what did he tell Zeke on the phone?
Elliott's holdout is now entering its second week, with no concrete date set for his return. Entering his fourth NFL season as one of the league's top talents, Elliott deserves a pay raise as much as anyone else.
It's important that Jerry Jones and the Cowboys' front office make sure they get him what he wants. A guy as versatile as Elliott doesn't come around often, and the ability to pair him with a young, mobile quarterback like Prescott makes the Cowboys a lethal offensive force.
As the days go by, this seems like a selfish move by Elliott considering Prescott and Amari Cooper have yet to get their big money extensions despite also proving their worth. But Zeke seems lucky that Prescott is understanding of his decision.
