The Dallas Cowboys had specific holes to fill on the roster in the 2020 NFL Draft, and Jerry Jones did just that from his private yacht, as he stole wide receiver CeeDee Lamb at No. 17 overall to begin what ended up being a great draft class.

Jones also added two defensive backs, two defensive linemen, a center, and a quarterback in the seventh round. He even pulled off a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles to move up and take the center, Tyler Biadasz, for barely anything in return. Jones' efforts stood out as among the best of any GM, and experts around the sportswriting world agreed the Cowboys crushed the draft.

Grades of "A" across the board, except for one "B+" from B/R. Not a bad report card for Jones. Adding a receiver was the biggest key, as only Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup stood out as legitimate threats in the passing game. Lamb now enters the mix and should be the number two guy behind Cooper.

The team lost Byron Jones in free agency and responded by picking up two new corners. Taking any defensive player out of Alabama, such as Trevon Diggs, is usually a great strategy when rebuilding a defense. Dallas wanted Diggs at 17, and got him at 51. I mean, come on, now.

Jones looked like he was in a spaceship when he was shown during the draft, and made it clear to his staff he did not want to be bothered. The jokes were made, but the wily owner and GM came through and shut down the doubters. The players must live up to the hype, but Jones put his team in a great position to succeed as a new era begins under Mike McCarthy.
