Cowboys Fire Wide Receivers Coach Sanjay Lal Despite Productive Year
By Michael Luciano

Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy might keep offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, but the same can't be said for all of Jason Garrett's offensive assistants.
Wide receivers coach Sanjay Lal, who coached the unit in Dallas for the last two seasons, has been fired, as NFL insider Jane Slater heard from the man himself.
2/2 he also mentions Randall Cobb who resurrected his career with 828 yards and his highest average per catch of his career, 15.1 yards. https://t.co/DmpXbMECVw

You'd think if there was one place the Cowboys actually did excel at this year, it was wide receiver. Even with all of his progress, Lal got the axe.
Lal, who has been a wide receivers coach since 2009 for teams like the Raiders, Jets, Bills, and Colts, helped Dallas turn into a potent air attack. Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup both crossed 1,000 yards this season, while Randall Cobb piled up 828 yards as a third option.
There were some unconfirmed rumblings that Lal butted heads with the rest of the coaching staff. That could be a reason for his sudden firing, as he performed admirably this year in terms of the on-field product.
Sanjay Lal is under contract, but I’d be absolutely shocked to see him retained. There’s been some rumblings about him butting heads with multiple parties.

Lal could have a job within 24 hours given his track record, and Dallas will likely bring in a McCarthy loyalist as the new era begins.
