Cowboys Reportedly Looking to Upgrade Defensive Line With Big Names Should Terrify the Rest of the NFL
By Thomas Carannante
We truly don't know how they're doing it. Heading into the offseason, the Dallas Cowboys seemed to be engulfed in a troubling situation with their salary cap as they worked tirelessly to bring back quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver Amari Cooper.
A few contract restructures later, Dallas managed to get both under contract for 2020, with Prescott under the franchise tag and Cooper signing a five-year deal, and the team SOMEHOW still has $24 millon in cap space.
Up next? Beefing up the defensive line even after adding Gerald McCoy.
We heard rumors of Snacks Harrison possibly heading to Big D, but now it seems Jerry Jones has expanded the search. Dontari Poe could be a Cowboy by the end of the day, too, according to the latest buzz.
The offense is set. The defense needs some work, and while signing a defensive back (or drafting one) will go a long way, it's smart for Jones to stack up the D-line with monsters to help the secondary with coverage. If DeMarcus Lawrence, Tyrone Crawford, McCoy and one other addition are terrorizing quarterbacks across the league, life will be A LOT easier for Jourdan Lewis, Anthony Brown and Chidobe Awuzie.
And if the Cowboys play their cards right in the draft, this team could very well be in the Super Bowl conversation out of the NFC as they continue to improve in a loaded conference.
