With the possible loss of Amari Cooper looming this offseason, the Dallas Cowboys needed to secure some talent for their newly-franchised-tagged quarterback Dak Prescott to throw to in 2020.

Jerry Jones and the Cowboys did just that on Monday by reportedly signing tight end Blake Jarwin to a three-year, $24.25 million contract extension.

The 25-year-old Jarwin, an Oklahoma State product, has been an important piece for the Cowboys offense for the past two seasons. His role has been growing steadily, and will undoubtedly continue to grow now that the team has given him this vote of confidence.

In 2019, he started in seven games, a career high, and played in all 16. He had 31 catches on 41 targets for three receiving touchdowns.

Although he's not yet the talent that Cowboys fans will demand in a long-term successor to Jason Witten, Jerry and Co. clearly believe that's where his ceiling is. Now, it's on him to start delivering on all the promise.
