Cowboys Will Reportedly Fire Jason Garrett Despite Moving Slowly Out of 'Respect'

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has made things very weird when it comes to moving on from Jason Garrett. Jones has had several meetings with his "favorite" coach in recent days, but has yet to make any public decision either way.
However, a new report from insider Ed Werder indicates that Garrett is going to be let go after all -- and that the slow-rolling process so far has been due to an "abundance of care and respect" for the situation and all those involved.
Source: #Cowboys Jerry Jones and Stephen Jones have moved slowly and with “abundance of care and respect” for Jason Garrett. That phase expected to conclude soon with Garrett not part of organization. Next phase to involve candidate interviews will begin quickly thereafter.

Huh.
If true, this means Jones has wasted time on seeking out a new coach because he wants to let Garrett down gently. But why would he have all these meetings only to kick Garrett out of the organization anyway?
What could they possibly have spent hours talking about? We may never know.
One thing people should know regarding #Cowboys deliberate and confusing process: Jerry and Stephen Jones would not be operating in this manner if they had any indication they were risking HC candidates they desire most to other teams.

Jones may think he has a method to this madness, and it remains to be seen if it will all pan out for the Cowboys. Even if he wants to interview coaches who are currently with teams in the playoffs, rival teams have already reached out, and may present better options for those candidates overall.
Garrett getting let go is what NFL fans have expected all along. Waiting to make the move is the weird part of this whole drama, and could very well impact whether a new coach wants to deal with the odd ways of Jerry Jones.
