Dalvin Cook Admits it 'Hurt' When Vikings Traded Away Stefon Diggs
There was a clear disconnect between the Minnesota Vikings front office and Stefon Diggs that was apparent throughout the 2019 season. That may have come as a bit of a shock for some fans after he signed a five-year, $72 million extension in the summer of 2018.
Diggs formed close connections with many of his Vikings teammates during his five years in Minnesota. One of his closest bonds was with running back Dalvin Cook, who arrived in 2017. The two became fast friends and also formed a dynamic duo on offense. Cook recently said he was particularly hurt by the trade that sent Diggs to the Buffalo Bills this offseason.
Cook acknowledged that Diggs was unhappy in Minnesota, but that the two are still close and that will never change. The young running back may be following in his friend's footsteps by demanding top dollar on his next deal and potentially creating a rift between himself and the front office.
Trades in professional sports almost always seem abrupt and instantly end professional relationships that have lasted for years. The loss of Diggs in Minnesota will be noticeable, but a great year from Cook could help make up for the lost production.
