VIDEO: Damian Lillard Has NSFW Message for Refs After Missed Goaltending Call That Cost Blazers the Game
By Jerry Trotta

An outstanding game of basketball between the Portland Trail Blazers and Utah Jazz was promptly marred by an indefensible missed call in the closing seconds of regulation. On the second night of a back-to-back, Damian Lillard (once again) willed a shorthanded Portland team into position to grab a victory from the clutches of defeat. Lillard, with the Trail Blazers down two with less than 20 seconds to play, split a double team, stormed into the paint, evaded a rim protector, and looked to sink a game-tying layup. Then, well, this garbage transpired:
Ridiculous, obvious, embarrassing goaltend. Nailed by @RyanRuocco. No further questions. pic.twitter.com/XFeEXMSri2

If ESPN commentator Ryan Ruocco, sitting at midcourt, was able to clearly determine that Rudy Gobert swatted Lillard's layup after it grazed the backboard, how did the officials, who should be perfectly positioned for such a call, not blow the whistle?
Lillard, as expected, was beside himself and needed to be detained by a Blazers assistant after the final buzzer sounded...but not before the Weber State product unleashed some obscenities directed at the officials.
"It cost us the f****g game."

Every replay of one of the worst missed calls/goaltends in NBA history + Damian Lillard's postgame comments. pic.twitter.com/e6M6zCcuAb
That explosion from the All-Star point guard is completely justifiable.
Back in Portland's locker room, after Dame had time to settle down, reporters caught up with him and he provided a more level-headed recount of the egregious blunder.

With a win, the Trail Blazers would have come within 1.5 games of the Memphis Grizzlies, who lost earlier in the night, for the eighth seed in the Western Conference.
Lillard, however, wasn't finished letting the referees have it, roasting them on Twitter after they acknowledged that they missed the goaltending call in an official statement.

Unfortunately, it won't change anything.
This will absolutely go down as one of the worst calls of the 2019-20 NBA season.
