Former MLB All-Star Dan Haren Tells Hilarious Story of Turning Season Around With One Cigarette
By Jack Murphy

Baseball is a sport where players can fall into slumps that can last the course of many games. Usually, their poor performance is all in their head and a slight change to their routine gets them back on track. Former All-Star pitcher Dan Haren shared his personal yet hilarious story about how he managed to bounce back after a tough stretch of games.
When pitching with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Haren ripped a cigarette during warmups due to his struggles. He went on to give up only one hit in the contest and turned his season around.
One time with dodgers I was struggling and decided to rip a cigarette during the anthem in between my warm ups. Gave up one hit and turned my season around. No I did not continue to smoke. Was just a good luck heater.

That's certainly one way to get out of a funk. All Haren needed to pick up his game was a nicotine fix. Even though he admits that he did not continue to smoke after this instance, a cig seemed to do the trick, weirdly enough.
While Haren does not comment on what game his was, one Twitter user speculated this happened before a contest with the Cleveland Indians, as he pitched and only give up a single hit.

We can't guarantee this will work for every pitcher, but it might be worth a shot for those of legal age, assuming it's a one-time effort.
