Dan Quinn Has Fully Lost Control of the Falcons and Needs to Be Fired Today
By Michael Luciano
Atlanta Falcons head coach Dan Quinn did an amazing job when he first got to town, turning a .500 team into one that a cataclysmic quarter away from winning the Super Bowl. Since then, Quinn and the organization have taken a nosedive straight into the basement of the NFL.
Following Sunday's beatdown against the Los Angeles Rams, Atlanta will fall to 1-6 on the season, which should spell the end for Quinn if Arthur Blank has some sense about him.
Matt Ryan, Julio Jones, and the offense are humming along just fine. It's been Quinn's defense, once a ferocious facsimile of his "Legion of Boom" teams with the Seattle Seahawks, that has been getting torn asunder every game.
Yes, injuries to Keanu Neal and others haven't helped, but that is no excuse for struggling quarterbacks like Marcus Mariota and Jared Goff, as well as a rookie like Kyler Murray, should be able to move up and down the field unabated.
Quinn had his run, but it's well past time to say goodbye. The decision to keep Quinn and let Kyle Shanahan go to the San Francisco 49ers will loom large over this franchise for years to come.
