Daniel Jones Jersey Sales See Massive Increase After Giants Name Him Starting QB Over Eli Manning
By Jerry Trotta
Though the majority of New York Giants fans are thoroughly relieved that the organization's front office named Daniel Jones the starting quarterback over Eli Manning ahead of Week 3, there's no doubting they are also feeling nostalgic.
After all, walking away from a club legend isn't exactly an easy pill to swallow. However, it would appear that the fan base is coping with the long-awaited settlement by rallying behind the rookie from Duke.
Popular NFL apparel shop Fanatics reported on Tuesday that DJ's jersey sales have risen almost 500 percent since Pat Shurmur's announcement.
While the Giants are on the road in Week 3 for Jones' first start, fans will be flocking to Metlife in Week 4 for his home debut against the Redskins. Expect to see a ton of No. 8 jerseys in the seats.
The 22-year-old gunslinger now flaunts the league's highest-selling jersey for a player who has yet to start a regular season game, but there's reasoning behind their madness: Danny Dimes was utterly unstoppable in the preseason.
Across four games, Jones finished 29-of-33 (good for a 87.8 completion percentage) for 416 yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions.
Let's hope Giants buffs display a little bit of patience when the former Blue Devil steps onto the gridiron on Sunday in Tampa, but they're surely hoping this is the dawn of a new era.
