VIDEO: Danny Green Says NBA Will 'For Sure' Finish 2019-20 Season and Aims for Late May Restart
By Michael Luciano
The NBA has been put on ice for almost a month due to the coronavirus, but just when things were starting to look dire for us well-educated pessimists, Los Angeles Lakers guard Danny Green has a somewhat optimistic view of when fans starved for entertainment could expect basketball to return. Green asserted that the NBA will "for sure have a season," and he believes that the season will start some time in the middle of May, ideally.
While this is all conjecture at this point, the NBA has mentioned several possible strategies for how and when to restart the season, ranging from playing in empty arenas to starting the playoffs immediately and playing games in Las Vegas. The doomsday scenario that cancels the remainder of the season is still very much in play, unfortunately.
But Green's in the room, at the very least, and he's publicly announcing that he doesn't believe negotiations are headed that way, for what it's worth.
May seems to be the date that the NBA and MLB have in mind to restart action, as baseball is considering playing games exclusively in Arizona.
No matter what Green says, basketball will only come back when there is 100 percent certainty that games do not pose a major risk to spreading the virus. If you want the NBA to come back, stay inside and follow social distancing guidelines.
