Daryl Morey Seemingly Confirms Chris Paul's Fate in Instagram Comment as Rumors Fly
By Mark Powell
With rumors that the Houston Rockets are looking to upgrade by any means necessary this offseason after falling short once again to the Golden State machine, Daryl Morey has taken to instagram, of all place, to apparently confirm the fate of star point guard Chris Paul.
Paul, already on a behemoth of a contract, would be tough to move at this juncture. Still, there were rumors abound that CP3 could be on his way out of Houston. According to Morey himself, who has the power to make such decisions, this is not the case.
Houston has descended into chaos. Mike D'Antoni and the organization are at an impasse in potential contract extension discussions, and they'll be hard-pressed to add much talent in free agency given their current cap situation. So, the Rockets may be stuck with what they've got.
Despite Morey's initial reactionary thinking to improve regardless of the cost, Paul is likely to prove far too expensive to get rid of. Other assets, such as Clint Capela or Eric Gordon, could be moved should Morey see an opportunity.
Hell, whether true or not (we're learning hard no), Paul's name has been mentioned in some buzz as recent as Sunday.
We're...going to go with a no on this one. Nonetheless, dumping CP3 would be all too convenient for the Rockets. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like there are any takers, even in Chicago.
Houston is in the middle of a long offseason. Surely. there is more to come.
