Date Set for Mychal Kendricks' Sentencing for Insider Trading
By Jerry Trotta
Mychal Kendricks infamously confessed and pled guilty to insider trading back in Sept. of 2018. But, there's only one problem: the Seattle Seahawks linebacker has yet to have a sentencing hearing. Two of his previously scheduled dates, one in January and then in April, were pushed back.
Well, it would appear that the third time could indeed be the charm, as Kendricks' new hearing, according to Pro Football Talk, is scheduled for Sept. 25.
This puts head coach Pete Carroll and Co. in a lamentable situation, as the 28-year-old already served the eight-game ban handed to him by commissioner Roger Goodell. This reported court date, which falls within Week 4 of the new NFL season, would enable the player to participate in Seattle's first three games of 2019.
The Seahawks are slated to play the Cardinals that week, and there's a puncher's chance that the University of California product might find himself indisposed soon after. Kendricks was facing a maximum of up to 25 years in prison for the offense, but is likely to receive leniency based on a guilty plea and cooperation with investigators.
All told, these reports suggest that another postponement isn't in the cards this time around. We will know the LB's fate before too long.
