Dave Roberts Provides Injury Update on Trio of Dodgers Stars
By Scott Rogust
The Los Angeles Dodgers are breaking records just prior to the All-Star break, and that comes with numerous injuries across their roster. Reinforcements could very well be on their way shortly.
Prior to Tuesday night's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks, manager Dave Roberts expressed he's "hopeful" that Corey Seager, David Freese, and AJ Pollock will return after the All-Star break. In fact, Roberts stated his belief that Freese could be ready to go a bit sooner than his colleagues.
Just a week ago against the Los Angeles Angels, Seager suffered a hamstring strain. Now, the shortstop has started running and swinging a bat. The former NL Rookie of the Year is expected to begin his rehab assignment some time during the All-Star break.
Freese was also diagnosed with a hamstring strain, and was subsequently placed on the 10-day injured list. Even though Roberts has said the injured hamstring "isn't responding" like they've hoped, he has confidence that he will be back before the All-Star Game.
Pollock underwent exploratory surgery in early May to find out the severity of a right elbow infection. Afterwards, doctors placed an antibiotic catheter in his left elbow, which was removed over a week ago. Pollock began swinging off a tee last Monday, and is expected to begin his rehab assignment during the Midsummer Classic break.
Even with these injuries, the Los Angeles Dodgers continued to build their stranglehold on the NL West. It will be interesting to see how they perform with their three starters back on the everyday roster.
