VIDEO: David Ortiz Embracing Quarantine by Playing Wiffleball With Son and Father
By Michael Luciano
Baseball players young and old are finding all sorts of ways to cope with the need for quarantine in order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Former Boston Red Sox superstar David Ortiz is using this time to train the next generation of star sluggers in his family. Ortiz was seen playing wiffleball with son D'Angelo while his father, Americo, sat on a bucket and caught.
Even during these daunting times, the Ortiz family is finding ways to enjoy the game they love so dearly. It seems like David needs to work on his wiffleball arm, however, as he struggled to get most of his pitches over the plate.
Earlier in the week, Big Papi offered more practical lessons to D'Angelo about how to drive the baseball. If the younger Ortiz ends up being half the player his dad was, any MLB team lucky enough to sign him is going to end up pretty happy.
David Ortiz is 44, but he looks ready to step up to the dish and go 2-4 with a home run right here, right now. And perhpaps, when the latter part of the decade rolls around, we might just see D'Angelo sneaking a home run right around Pesky's pole just like his dad used too.
