David Ortiz Set to Return to FOX MLB Playoffs Pregame Show
By Chris Russo
Big Papi already made his triumphant public return to the baseball diamond when he threw out the first pitch at Fenway Park in September, but now he's making another big step in his recovery.
David Ortiz will reportedly return to the FOX studios to help cover the 2019 MLB postseason.
Ortiz made enough progress in his recovery from suffering from a gunshot wound in the Dominican Republic that FOX Sports says he will return to the studio with Kevin Burkhardt, Frank Thomas, and Alex Rodriguez in time for the American League Division Series. FOX announced the news through a press release Tuesday.
The shooting in the Dominican Republic threatened Ortiz's life, as emergency surgery necessitated removal of his gallbladder and partial removal of his intestines and colon. He also suffered liver damage.
His return to TV couldn't come at a better time, either. This month also marks the 15th anniversary of the Red Sox's first championship in 86 years and Ortiz's ALCS heroics against the New York Yankees.
We can't wait to have Big Papi back in our lives.
