David Price Already Sounds Way Happier in Los Angeles Than Boston
By Scott Rogust
After a lull in MLB offseason moves, the Los Angeles Dodgers struck when it mattered most. The team acquired arguably the best outfielder in the league in Mookie Betts from the Boston Red Sox. But the other piece the Dodgers received was starting pitcher David Price, who will enter a rotation consisting of Clayton Kershaw and Walker Buehler.
Price hasn't even been in Hollywood for a full month, but he already sounds way happier in his new surroundings than he did during his four years in Beantown.
“I’ve only been here a couple of weeks but I really couldn't be happier,’’ Price says, via USA Today.
"Look, it’s not like I wanted to be traded. I was grateful for my four years in Boston. I went there to win, and we won. But if I had a list of the top three or four teams I would have wanted to be traded to, LA would definitely have been on it. “I’m honored to be part of this franchise, and its place in history.’’
When you think of Price's time in Boston, you automatically think of the constant ridicule he was under due to his massive seven-year, $217 million contract. Even after having an impressive playoff run in 2018, he was still under the microscope by fans and media alike. Additionally, his beef with former pitcher and Red Sox commentator Dennis Eckersley was well-documented.
Now, Price and Betts escaped a Red Sox organization that could be headed for a rebuild and joined the perennial favorites in the National League. Given how stacked the Dodgers lineup is, expect Price's numbers to improve and his smile grow wider throughout the 2020 season.
