David Price to Miss Friday's Start Against Yankees With Injury Because of Course He is
By Parker White

Boston Red Sox left-handed starter David Price was set to come off the injured list and start against the New York Yankees on Friday at Fenway Park, but his injured wrist flared up.
He won't be making an appearance after all.
Michael Chavis had a setback with his oblique and the rest of his season is in jeopardy. David Price felt discomfort in his wrist yesterday and won't pitch Friday. Sox will go with bullpen days on Friday and Saturday against the Yankees. Porcello Sunday, E Rod Monday vs. Yanks.

Price is dealing with a cyst in his left wrist, and received a platelet-rich plasma injection to help break it up and avoid surgery. Well, if he still has tightness and discomfort in his wrist, it looks like Price may very well need surgery at some point.
Or... he just doesn't want to come back and face the Yankees? We just don't know right now.
Regarding Price, in Denver he said he might need minor surgery in the postseason to remove the cyst. While he was on the IL, he had a PRP shot into the cyst to break it up. Now that it’s flared up again, seems like surgery is more likely.

Price went on the shelf in early August, and the fact he hasn't come back makes you believe that he could miss the rest of the season. Boston will surely have a clearer timetable for his return in the coming days, but if they get their doors blown off this weekend, their playoff hopes may be dead. At that point, there's no reason to rush him back for any reason.
