David Wells is Selling Autographed Protective Cups to Raise Money for First Responders and That's Nuts
By Jerry Trotta

Countless professional athletes, both current and former, have admirably taken the initiative to give back to their local communities and the health care professionals who are working the front lines amid the coronavirus pandemic. Whether it be fundraisers, a straightforward donation, or teaming up with charitable organizations, the pledges that have been made thus far are inspiring.
Former MLB pitcher David Wells has joined that growing list, but he's chosen to do so in truly bizarre fashion. The three-time All-Star is auctioning off two autographed "N95 replica" protective cups. All of the proceeds will be donated to first responders.
I have 2 unused N-95 replica Baseball Cup Masks for Auction.Highest Bidders go to perfect33foundation to pay and I’ll ship. Wow, dude.
We're appreciative of Wells' efforts, but we're also just as confused. For those curious (how could you not be?) if the former ALCS MVP would have trouble finding buyers for these unused life-savers, well, he isn't.
$400 is the highest bidder so far

That's right, folks. As of this writing, Wells currently has a $500 offer on the table for these, ummm, "collector's items."
Those interested in the auction will have until 6 p.m. ET on Saturday to take part. That's when Wells will announce the winner, per his Twitter.
Happy bidding! During times like these, personal protective equipment has never been more important.
