David Wright Reportedly Will Not Be Considered for Mets Manager Job
By Parker White

The New York Mets are beginning the search for their next manager after firing Mickey Callaway on Thursday. For most fans, they'd like to see someone who has a connection with the franchise. And one name that's been floated here and there is former Mets icon David Wright.
Well, don't get your hopes up Mets fans, if you wanted him that is. According to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com, Wright getting back in the dugout to manage this team is not happening.
For the multitudes who have asked: David Wright will not be applying for the Mets' manager job. He appreciates your interest, but is quite content right now spending time at home with his wife and two daughters.

Wright recently retired in 2018 after relentless back injuries kept him off the field. The seven-time All-Star played in just 77 games from 2015-18, sitting out the 2017 entirely. He is currently a special assistant to the GM for the Mets, but there's been no indication he has any interest in coaching or managing, especially this soon after retiring.
Understandably, Wright is enjoying his time at home with his wife and kids.

Sorry, folks. While some former Mets are surely in consideration for the vacancy, Wright won't be the next skipper in Queens.
