Dellin Betances Claims He Could Face Live Batters This Week
By Seth Carlson
New York Yankees reliever Dellin Betances is eager to get back on the mound.
According to Kristie Ackert of the New York Daily News, Betances asserted that he could face live batters as soon as this Wednesday in Tampa, where the Yankees hold their Spring Training.
The Yankees are definitely not hurting in their bullpen right now, as they have the fourth best bullpen ERA in the Majors and third in the American League, standing at 3.66.
Only the Astros, Indians and Dodgers have better bullpen ERAs, which says a lot about how the Yankees have handled the numerous injuries in not just the pen but all over their roster. However, it would be incorrect to quip that the Yankees don't miss having Betances' power stuff to anchor the late innings.
With Adam Ottavino, Zach Britton and Aroldis Chapman already in the fold, the Yankees make it tough in the late innings as it is. Enter Betances in the near future and good luck trying to come back late in a game if trailing.
