Dellin Betances Will Have Shoulder Examined Following Friday Setback
By Sean Facey

The last thing the Yankees needed was yet another injury complication, but they unfortunately just got one.
Reliever Dellin Betances is set to have his right should examined on Monday by a team doctor after he was too sore to throw a bullpen session on Friday.

Betances was too sore to throw bullpen in Tampa on Friday
Betances was originally placed on the 60-day injured list earlier in the season with a right shoulder impingement. He has yet to appear in a game this year.
His shoulder has been bothering him since spring training. At points, his fastball was averaging under 90 mph.
Though the Yankees have fared just fine without him, there's no denying that they could use his star-level arm in the bullpen. Betances is one of the best strikeout artists in the game; in 2018, he became the first reliever in MLB history to strike out 100 or more batters in five consecutive seasons.
Dellin Betances, it appears, has suffered a setback. Aaron Boone says what was originally “normal” soreness has become serious enough he’s flying back from Tampa to New York tmrw. Betances is getting evaluated by Dr. Chris Ahmad in NYC Monday. Boone describes it as near his lat.

His presence would alleviate the need to carry the likes of David Hale or Nestor Cortes Jr. in the bullpen, neither of whom have particularly impressed in 2019.
With a mountain of key players still unavailable, this concerning setback for Betances isn't exactly what the Yankees wanted to hear.
