Dellin Betances Finally Posts First 'Thank You' Message to Yankees on Instagram Since Joining Mets
By Adam Weinrib

Durable reliever Dellin Betances spent five remarkable years as the X-factor in the Yankees' bullpen, before breaking down twice in 2019 and watching his future get cloudier.
Betances missed all but one appearance in '19, tragically tearing his Achilles on the verge of a playoff berth by hopping off the mound, which followed a long road back from shoulder troubles.
His time on the Yankees was successful and whiff-filled from the jump, and a month after he initially signed in Flushing, leaving for New York's NL team, Betances has finally wished his old squad well in official fashion.

"The past 14 years of my career have created memories and milestones that I will never forget," Betances wrote, celebrating all the way back to being a local 10th-round draft pick in 2005. Pretty remarkable rise for the big guy, who became an iconic Yankee as the franchise clawed back to relevance.

Of course, his time in New York wasn't without contentious moments. Famously, Betances was short-changed by Randy Levine for being a set-up man who allowed an overload of stolen bases during an arbitration hearing. At the time, Levine claimed Betances didn't have a closer's mentality, and mispronounced his name as "Dylan" throughout the process.
RL: "It's like me saying, I'm not the president of the Yankees, I'm an astronaut. I'm not an astronaut and Dellin Betances is not a closer."

There's a solid chance he'll get an opportunity to prove Levine wrong from across town.
