DeMarco Murray Returning to Oklahoma as Running Backs Coach
By Jerry Trotta
One of the plethora of talented tailbacks to pass through Oklahoma's football program over the years is reportedly returning to Norman to join the Sooners coaching staff.
Per Bruce Feldman of The Athletic, DeMarco Murray is in line to become Oklahoma's new running backs coach.
Murray left an abiding impact during his four years (2007-2010) with the Sooners. He holds school records in all-purpose yards with 6,718, as well as touchdowns with 65.
The former third-round selection (No.71 overall) of the Dallas Cowboys in 2011 went on to accumulate three Pro Bowl nods across his seven NFL seasons before retiring after the 2017 campaign.
Murray has since got his coaching career off and running, serving as Arizona's RBs coach in 2019. In his lone year at the helm, the Wildcats finished third in the Pac-12 in rushing with 174 yards per game.
Murray will take over an RB crew at Oklahoma that will feature star junior Kennedy Brooks, who logged over 1,000 yards alongside six touchdowns in 2019.
Fans in Norman should be thrilled that their former superstar is returning to his old stomping grounds, especially since he's already enjoyed success as an RB coach.
