DeMarcus Cousins Describes Ideal Lakers Role Ahead of Potential Return From Injury
The Los Angeles Lakers failed to add any talent at the trade deadline. But one possible addition is currently sitting on the bench already in DeMarcus Cousins. He joined the team in the 2019 offseason and promptly tore his ACL; now, he could be the Lake Show's secret weapon if he can make his way back in time for a playoff run.
And he has some thoughts about how he might fit in with the Purple and Gold on the court.
During an appearance on the "All the Smoke" podcast with Stephen Jackson and Matt Barnes, Cousins said he can fit right in with the Lakers and take on any role the team could possibly need, including that of a spot-up shooter making smart moves off the ball.
The Lakers particularly needed help at the guard position ahead of the trade deadline, but getting an offensive threat like Cousins back for the postseason would only add more talent to the team and give the Lakers a cast of big men featuring himself, Anthony Davis, JaVale McGee and Dwight Howard.
Cousins is capable of knocking down jumpers and passing the ball with poise, and opposing teams may have no shot to stopping the Lakers' big lineups if and when he's healthy. Cousins just has to avoid rushing back after dealing with several injuries the past few years.
