DeMarcus Cousins Should Join John Wall and Wizards to Make Kentucky Fans' Dreams Come True

The list of NBA free agents available to join forces with potential playoff teams for the Orlando-based restart operation was trimmed a smidge on Tuesday as reports confirmed that DeMarcus Cousins, who is currently recovering from a torn ACL suffered in August, has turned down the chance to play in Orlando to continue his rehab.

It goes without saying that this is the right call by Cousins, as he will now (presumably) be fully-healthy entering the 2020-21 season. If that's the case and the Washington Wizards come calling, the four-time All-Star shouldn't think twice about accepting their offer.

A reunion between John Wall and Cousins would be a dream scenario for Kentucky fans. Of course, the two players starred for the Wildcats as freshmen in 2009-2010. That year, Wall posted 16.6 points, 6.5 assists and 1.8 steals per game, while Cousins contributed 15.1 points and 9.8 rebounds on 55.8% shooting, as Kentucky finished 35-3 and advanced as far as the Elite 8 in the NCAA Tournament.

During their time at Kentucky, the two perennial superstars showcased an elite chemistry in both the pick-and-roll and in the open floor. With Bradley Beal's future in DC uncertain, signing Cousins would keep the Wizards relevant in an admittedly weak Eastern Conference. Who knows, if Beal were to stick around, Washington would be a team that nobody would want to face in the playoffs.
