DeMarcus Cousins to Make Like LeBron and Change Jersey Number for the Lakers
By Parker White
The Los Angeles Lakers will have a completely different look next year, and it's not just the names on the backs of their jerseys that will take some getting used to.
Not only has LeBron James given his No. 23 to Anthony Davis and returning to the No. 6 he wore in Miami, but newly signed center DeMarcus Cousins is making a numerical change as well.
During his time with the New Orleans Pelicans and the Golden State Warriors, Cousins wore the No. 0. I guess it didn't give him the kind of good luck he wanted --he ruptured his Achillies in Nola and tore his quad with the Dubs -- and he's now announced on Twitter that he's going back to the No. 15 he wore with the Sacramento Kings.
If it helps him psychologically and makes him feel like this is authentically a fresh start with the Lakers, he should go right ahead. Los Angeles could surely use a big man who can drop 25 points and grab 12 rebounds like Cousins did back in his Sacramento days, after all.
The Lake Show can only hope that Cousins returning to the number that made him a household name with the Kings doesn't bring back the same famously prickly attitude that eventually became a distraction. If they can dodge that bullet, the sky's the limit at Staples Center.
