DeMarre Carroll Reportedly Agrees to 2-Year Deal With Spurs
By Will Fowler
Reports are flying in from everywhere regarding newly-signed NBA free agents, and another one just made its way to the public: former Hawks and Nets forward DeMarre Carroll will be joining the San Antonio Spurs for two years and $12 million, per Shams Charania.
Carroll broke out in Atlanta, but was later sent to the Nets in a trade that was intended to be a salary dump. At Brooklyn, though, he became a key piece for a Nets team that surprisingly earned the No. 6 seed and made the playoffs this past season.
In a season and a half with Brooklyn, Carroll averaged 12 points and 6 rebounds while taking on a role as a veteran leader in a locker room filled with young stars like Jarrett Allen, Caris LeVert and D'Angelo Russell.
For the first time since 2013, Carroll takes his talents to the West and suits up for Gregg Popovich and the San Antonio Spurs.
Carroll becomes the first new signing for a team that will need to be active in free agency in order to keep pace with their West rivals.
