Deontay Wilder Blasts Anthony Joshua as a Fraud on Twitter After Embarrassing TKO Defeat
By Austin Pert
We had a changing of the guard on Saturday night at the Madison Square Garden, when former heavyweight champion of the world Anthony Joshua lost his belt in embarrassing fashion to Andy Ruiz Jr by seventh-round TKO.
But according to fellow heavyweight Deontay Wilder, Joshua didn't just lose his title, he never should've had it in the first place.
Joshua wasn't even supposed to fight Ruiz, as the June 1 fight in Manhattan was going to be between the British belt holder and Jarrell Miller before Miller was replaced due to testing positive for PEDs.
But Ruiz got his shot, and refused to let it go to waste, earning one of the great upsets in recent (and even not so recent) memory, along with all of Joshua's title belts.
Wilder, a WBC belt holder himself, is undefeated in his professional career, so he can still talk the talk.
It wasn't all negative flack at Joshua though, as fellow Brit Tyson Fury was one of the more diplomatic voices on social media following the bout.
It will be an uphill battle for Joshua to reclaim all of his belts, even as the current title holder is someone as unlikely as Ruiz.
