VIDEO: Deontay Wilder Appearance on Joe Rogan Podcast From 2018 Proves He's Full of it in Excuse for Tyson Fury TKO
By Evan Wolff
Deontay Wilder hasn't exactly bathed himself in glory over the past few days. After losing his belt to Tyson Fury by TKO in the 7th round, Wilder has handed out excuse after excuse, including a wild claim that his 40-pound suit that was a part of his walk-in caused his legs to weaken before the fight began. Now a clip has re-emerged from Wilder's appearance on the Joe Rogan podcast in 2018, including discussing his use of a weighted vest in training.
Of course, the notable part is the weight of his vest, which was 45 pounds, five more than he claimed his costume was for his fight. So if he trained with a heavier weight just to make himself a better fighter, it's silly that a costume would have such a dramatic effect on the lower-half of his body.
It's baffling that Wilder feels he needs these excuses to justify his loss. He is one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time, and almost everyone loses. Fury was the better fighter that day, and Wilder needs to accept that.
