Derek Carr Complaining About Controversial OPI Call After Loss to Chiefs Isn't What Raiders Need Now

The Oakland Raiders looked to be on the verge of a massive upset over the Kansas City Chiefs, after taking an early 10-0 lead. After a Patrick Mahomes comeback, the Raiders are calling foul on one play in particular.

During the second quarter, quarterback Derek Carr threw a pass to Ryan Grant. As Grant ran, his route was impeded by Chiefs safety Tyrann Mathieu, resulting in an interception by defensive back Charvarius Ward. With the play over, it was Grant called for pass interference, and the interception stood.

In the post game press conference, Carr provided explicit details of his conversation with the officials after said play, and he was not happy.

Carr told the referee at the time of the penalty that he would have never even thrown the ball Grant's way if he was blocking. That official responded by giving him the cold shoulder.

Despite this one play, the Raiders were outplayed by the Chiefs and Mahomes, who completed 30-of-44 pass attempts for 443 yards and four touchdowns. On top of that, Carr threw for 198 yards on 23 completions and two interceptions.

Add Derek Carr to the list of players not fond of the officiating in the NFL.
