Derek Carr Bizarrely Claims That Dangerous and Violent Vontaze Burfict is Just 'Misunderstood'

Raiders linebacker Vontaze Burfict has built himself quite a reputation over the years. The numerous excessive hits he's laid on opposing players have given him the label of a dirty player, along with a long list of suspensions and fines. His latest apparent decapitation attempt on Colts tight end Jack Doyle last Sunday further sullied his character, and was bad enough for the NFL to ban him for the rest of the season.

But apparently the Burfict we see isn't really him, at least according to teammate Derek Carr. When asked about the suspension, the Oakland AB claimed Burfict wasn't a dirty player, but "misunderstood."

He goes on to say that Burfict is genuinely a nice guy, and his most recent hit wasn't intentional.

This would sound believable if it was the first time he was caught tackling somebody like this, but we've already seen Burfict lay down inappropraite, dangerous hits plenty of times before, such as this one against Antonio Brown.

Or this one on Anthony Sherman.

The evidence on Burfict is overwheling, and makes it difficult to take Carr seriously. Sure, Burfict can come back and prove he's truly misunderstood next season, but it's pretty hard to imagine that his next chance won't be his last.
