Derrick Henry and Saquon Barkley Honor Kobe Bryant With Custom Outfits at NFL Honors
By Karl Rasmussen
Just about everyone across the sports world has paid their respects to Kobe Bryant in some form or fashion since his tragic passing one week ago. Derrick Henry joined that group himself with his particular fashion choice for Saturday's NFL Honors.
The Tennessee Titans running back and 2019 NFL rushing champion rolled up to the event wearing a custom suit with purple and gold inner lining, complete with Kobe's No. 8 and 24 printed on either side.
Everyone is still mourning the loss of the Laker great, his daughter Gianna, and the seven other victims that perished in last weekend's fatal helicopter accident, and Henry is taking the time to show his respect to an individual who changed the definition of hard work and dedication to one's craft.
The Titans star adopted the moniker of King Henry due to his phenomenal second half of the season, but even his royalty felt the need to make some sort of tribute to Kobe's greatness.
He wasn't the only talented running back to give the Mamba a nod on Saturday, as Giants star Saquon Barkley was also spotted donning an outfit paying tribute to the fallen icon.
"Tonight, I want to represent [Kobe], but I also want to pay my respect with the rest of my career," Barkley said.
Even the sporting world and global popular culture, Kobe Bryant left a lasting legacy. The tributes will continue for a long, long time, and that's exactly as it should be.
