Pistons Reportedly Not Expected to Deal Derrick Rose Ahead of NBA Trade Deadline

The Detroit Pistons are on pace to end up in the lottery, and that means the team could be sellers before Thursday's NBA trad deadline.
Derrick Rose is one obvious player the team might consider moving for assets, but that is reportedly not likely to happen, per Vincent Goodwill of Yahoo Sports.

Rose is under contract through next season, so the Pistons may want to give it another shot in 2020-21. Also, the team is still technically alive for the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference even after a 19-34 start.
Notably, the former MVP is Detroit's leading scorer and assist man in his first year in the Motor City, and he's stated his desire to stay.

The Pistons do have talent on the team. Andre Drummond and Blake Griffin, when healthy, should have the Pistons fighting for a playoff spot. Keeping Rose at the deadline allows the team to try again next year without blowing things up straight away.
This has been another solid season for Rose as he gradually moves toward elder statesman status in the NBA, and he is going to be rewarded with continuity for his hard work at this rate.
