76ers and Lakers Reportedly Interested in Trading for Pistons' Derrick Rose
By Will Coleman
As we move closer to the Feb. 6 trade deadline, a handful of NBA title contenders have continued to check in on Detroit Pistons point guard Derrick Rose's availability.
The 31-year-old and former MVP is under contract through next season and is averaging 18.3 points-per-game – his highest total since the 2011-12 season. Rose had to overcome several injuries before returning to basketball excellence, and now he could have the chance to play for a team making a championship push.
Rose is reportedly satisfied with the Pistons and doesn't want to be traded, but he might be an obvious asset for Detroit. If they're ever going to get anything out of him, it could be now.
With the Lakers still awaiting Rajon Rondo's return from injury and the 76ers lacking any real point guard depth behind Ben Simmons, Rose would be a home run acquisition for either Los Angeles or Philadelphia.
Rose has scored at least 20 points in his last nine games and is currently fourth in All-Star voting for Eastern Conference guards.
Rose's postseason experience isn't all that deep aside from a run to the 2011 Eastern Conference Finals, but if he's traded anywhere this season it'll likely be to a playoff team where he'll play crucial bench minutes.
