Derwin James Will Reportedly Undergo Surgery and Miss at Least 3 Months
By Parker White

The Los Angeles Chargers suffered a huge loss to their defense, as it was reported yesterday that safety Derwin James would miss "significant" time with a foot injury.
The news is even worse, as James will undergo surgery on the stress fracture in his foot next week, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. James will be out of action 3-4 months.
Chargers' S Derwin James will undergo surgery on the stress fracture of his foot next week with Dr. Robert Anderson, as @MikeGarafolo reported. James is expected to be sidelined 3-4 months, which means he could be back for a playoff push or the postseason.

Dr. Robert Anderson will be the one who performs the surgery, which will sideline James for a minimum of three months.
The Chargers could get the leader of their defense before the playoffs barring any setbacks, which is certainly a positive thought. However, James will most likely be placed on injured reserve, and at this point, it's unlikely that he'll be back during the regular season.

James was an All-Pro safety last year as a rookie, playing in all 16 games and racking up 105 combined tackles (75 solo), 3.5 sacks and three interceptions.
This is a substantial loss for Los Angeles.
