DeSean Jackson Doesn't Hold Back and Opens up About Chip Kelly Eagles Disaster
By Michael Luciano
While not an awful coach, former Oregon mastermind Chip Kelly failed with the Philadelphia Eagles after the fanbase soured on him following some puzzling roster moves, like cutting star deep threat DeSean Jackson after a season in which the Pro Bowler set new career highs in catches, yards, and touchdowns.
Jackson, speaking on Lane Johnson's podcast, finally went into detail about his release in 2013, and he still clearly feels slighted after Kelly unceremoniously parted ways with him.
Jackson claimed that his release was a "shove in [his] face," as the story about him being associated with a notorious gang was later proven to be completely made up. Jackson claimed that the reason he signed with the Washington Redskins was the resulting twice-per-year matchup with Philly, starting the following season.
Time has done little to heal the wounds between Jackson and Kelly, as the receiver called his old coach a "big time weirdo" a few years ago. So much for burying the hatchet!
Jackson and Kelly didn't see eye to eye, but it seemed to work out well for all parties. Kelly gave the Eagles players like Johnson, Zach Ertz, and Nelson Agholor in the draft, just to name a few, before returning to his comfort zone in college with UCLA. Jackson also linked back up with Philadelphia. Happy endings all around.
