DeSean Jackson Suffers Broken Finger at Eagles Practice
By Sean Facey
The Philadelphia Eagles got a bit of a scare today with DeSean Jackson, who the team is relying on in his return after stints with the Redskins and Buccaneers.
The veteran wide receiver broke his left ring finger during practice on Tuesday, though it shouldn't keep him from playing in the season opener against the Washington Redskins on Sept. 8.
Entering his 12th year in the NFL, Jackson figures to be a key member of the Eagles' offensive passing attack this year. He's led the league in yards per reception two times in the last three seasons.
Jackson was a member of the Eagles from 2008-2013 and was one of the most explosive players in the league. He totaled 6,117 yards in 87 games while also taking four punt returns for touchdowns during that time.
Now 32 years old, the hope is that Jackson still has plenty left in the tank for this season to give franchise quarterback Carson Wentz another deep threat in the receiving game.
The Eagles could certainly use his help revitalizing their offensive attack. They finished 18th in points per game last year, and not a single wide receiver finished with over 1,000 yards. In fact, the only player on the team to even top 850 yards was tight end Zack Ertz.
It's a good thing that this doesn't appear to be anything more than a minor setback for Jackson. Hopefully he'll be healthy and ready to go for the start of the year.
