The D-Backs enter this game coming off a big 8-2 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers in the last game of their three-game series. Pitcher Alex Young (0-0) will make his major league debut on Thursday night as he will audition for a spot in Arizona's rotation for the time being. Young has posted a 6.09 ERA with 64 strikeouts in 54.2 innings pitched at Triple-A this year.

Merrill Kelly, who returned this year from the NPB in Japan, will take the hill and look to build off his recent run of solid starts. Over his past five outings, he's surrendered more than 2 earned runs just once, and has struck out 32 batters across 33.2 innings of work.
Things could be looking up for Arizona after a series win against the division rival Dodgers.

The Giants offense on the year has been abysmal, as they've mustered just 3.8 runs per game in the first half of the year. Pitcher Tyler Beede (1-2) will attempt to secure a win despite the offensive woes. Beede has posted a rough 6.96 ERA in eight appearances this year, with a mediocre 38:25 K:BB ratio.
