VIDEO: Didi Gregorius' Comments on Lack of Interest From Yankees Are Pretty Heartbreaking
By Andy Loughmiller

Though most Yankee fans wish it hadn't come to this, Didi Gregorius is no longer a member of the Evil Empire. And according to the shortstop, the Yankees did not make much of an effort to re-sign him. This led to him inking a deal with the Philadelphia Phillies. Though New York knew this was coming, his comments on Brian Cashman's lack of interest are still heartbreaking to hear.

It's hard to blame the Yankees front office for prioritizing Gerrit Cole during MLB free agency, but it still hurts to see a beloved player like Gregorius sign with a different team.
The 29-year-old infielder's comments make it sound like he wanted to remain in New York, but the team had other plans. Both parties had to do what was in their best interest, but it doesn't make the departure any less painful.
Sir Didi Gregorius came to the Bronx with an impossible task — replacing Derek flippin' Jeter — and turned into the effervescent beating heart of this team. Will miss that guy a lot. Enjoy the hell out of him, Phillies fans. pic.twitter.com/mrOsWJnsqc

The Yankees got the big fish that they were searching for, and the Phillies got a great player in Gregorius.
Fans of the Bronx Bombers won't have any ill will towards Didi and will be rooting for him to succeed in his new home. Except when he is playing against New York, of course.
