VIDEO: Dirk Nowitzki's Car Got Stuck in the Mud and He Had to Call Deron Williams for Help
By Sam Dunn
In these days of COVID-19, it's more important than usual for us to find ways to help others. That was true on Sunday for former NBA point guard Deron Williams, who answered the call to help an old friend in need: retired Dallas Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki. Apparently, the future Hall of Famer's van got stuck in some mud thanks to some ill-advised off-roading, and he called Williams for help. He was happy to oblige, but made sure to get in a laugh on IG, too.
People helping people! Some bonds just never weaken with the passing of time. These two, who spent some truly productive years together in Dallas, have the kind of friendship we can all aspire to in such times of need.
Of course, this means Dirk definitely owes Deron. We're not talking about a beer or two at the pub, either (as soon as it's safe, of course). Coming to rescue your boy is kind of a big deal -- maybe Dirk can do his buddy the ultimate favor and just get rid of that van and get himself a whip with four-wheel drive? Just a thought.
