DJ LeMahieu Vows to Stay in Florida to Work Out With Classic Machine-Like Quote
By Dylan McCaffrey
The New York Yankees and MLB season may be delayed due to the growing coronavirus concerns, but that's not going to stop players from working overtime to stay in shape. Yankees slugger DJ LeMahieu has made that much clear, as he himself if staying in Florida to grind.
The infielder likes to fly under the radar, but NY fans are certainly going to love his explanation for why he's staying put in Tampa.
Mr. Reliable will continue to work out at Steinbrenner Field in Florida, staying out of the cold weather in Michigan (where his family lives). While he remains in warmer climates, he's going to use every opportunity he has to get in a great workout.
The talented infielder is coming off a brilliant year where he was named a Silver Slugger winner at 2B, an All-Star and finished fourth in AL MVP voting.
He was having an excellent Spring Training as well. At 31 years old, LeMahieu went to bat 29 times in 10 games, with three RBI and a .345/.387/.408 split.
For now, baseball players across the country are sitting on pins and needles waiting for the season to get underway. Despite the delay, LeMahieu is doing everything he can to make sure he'll be ready to rock once the Yankees return to action.
And you better believe expectations will be high for the Bronx Bombers once the season does get underway.
