DJ LeMahieu Has Been Impossibly Hot in Last 23 Plate Appearances
By Parker White
Where would the New York Yankees offense be without DJ LeMahieu? They wouldn't be a top-five offense in baseball, especially with all the injuries they've endured.
LeMahieu didn't just get off to a hot start and help stem the tide in the early-going. The Yankee infielder remains hot at the dish, including in recent days where he's blazing hot, peppering in power with his trademark poise.
It's hard to do that off a TEE, let alone a big league arsenal.
Over his last 23 plate appearances, LeMahieu is 13-for-18 (.722) with two triples, four home runs and five walks. That includes what he's done on Wednesday against Toronto, where he's 2-for-2 with his 12th homer of the season, a walk and two RBI.
Coming into the season, you would've though the Yankees offense wouldn't be as potent if you knew Miguel Andujar would be out basically the entire 2019 campaign due to injury.
However, GM Brian Cashman was so smart and picked up LeMahieu at a bargain price in free agency, and the Machine can play all over the infield, including the hot corner.
LeMahieu isn't just getting on base as New York's leadoff hitter. The man is doing damage and, quite frankly, is carrying the offense. This is some special stuff.
