DJ LeMahieu's Splits Are So Consistent it's Insane
By Sean Facey
It's no secret how good DJ LeMahieu has been this year. The New York Yankees infielder has been everything the team could have asked for and more when they signed him to a two-year bargain deal in the offseason.
But what shouldn't go unnoticed is how beyond consistent he's been.
LeMahieu's splits show that not matter who he's facing, where he's facing them, or what the situation is, chances are he's raking.
His batting average is above .330 against southpaws and right-handers and both at home and on the road. He amazingly gets even better as the game goes on. In innings one-through-three, he's batting .351, but in the seventh through the ninth, his average leaps still higher to .359!
The numbers signify just how fantastic LeMahieu has been with the Yankees. After a down year with the Rockies last year, he's now batting an AL-leading .333 on the season and vying for his second career batting title.
It's all part of his stellar campaign spearheading New York's offense. He leads the team in runs batted in (68), runs scored (71) and fWAR (3.5).
He's been simply amazing all year long, providing consistent offensive production whenever the Yankees have needed it most. His success with runners in scoring position has also been well-chronicled.
It's one thing to be consistent, but it's quite another to be consistently great, and LeMahieu has been just that in 2019.
