Sometimes it's easy to forget that the people we idolize and consistently watch in the sports world are people, too, just like us.

That definitely came to light when, in a Zoom video interview with The Athletic's Andy McCullough, Los Angeles Dodgers' president of baseball ops Andrew Friedman explained his perspective on the entire coronavirus epidemic. He admitted he really had no idea what the virus was two weeks ago, before it had any impact on the sports world.

Starting on the night of March 11, we started to see sports get quickly shut down, and though we knew the tensions surrounding the crisis were rising, we were rightly taken aback, as were those involved.

Just like Friedman said, two weeks ago, many people, including athletes and sports executives, had no idea of the effect the coronavirus would have on the world. No one suspected that sports would stop for an extended period of time the way they have, with blazing speed.

Everyone was surprised at how fast we arrived here. Friedman, like the rest of us, just wants it all to be over.
