Dodgers Extending Andrew Friedman Will Keep Them in Contention for Years to Come
By Ian Anderson
The Los Angeles Dodgers subtly secured their future for years to come and it might have been the most impactful move thus far this offseason, albeit in the front office.
The Dodgers extended President of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman, and this bodes well for the franchise.
While the duration of the contract, as well as the financials, have yet to be disclosed, Friedman deserves this payday, even if the Dodgers wanted to keep it under wraps.
Since Friedman left the Tampa Bay Rays for the Dodgers, Los Angeles has notched five consecutive first-place finishes in the NL West, along with two World Series appearances. While they have yet to be the lone team standing at the end of the year, that's not necessarily the fault of Friedman, who has put together arguably the most talented roster in baseball. He'll look to do so again this offseason, filling whatever minor holes LA has in hopes of extending their World Series window.
Friedman is no longer a rising star in the industry, instead becoming one of the most well-known executives in the sport. The Dodgers are smart to keep him around for as long as he pleases.
